a bit more uplifting.
I still don't know what's up with the house. The decision has been left in Paul's hands. I don't know that he can say that we won't move, but I have told him that if he decides we will, I never, ever, want to hear about the paint job. He has to be 100% sure of his decision either way, and I will support him, I just can't support daily bitching about the color of the house.

The rental co may surprise us though.

Anyway, I wanted to show off some of my accomplishments from the last 2 weeks.

First up, the "retro" soaker-

Second, leg warmers w/ the "No strings attached waistband"

Third, shorties in the "jewel" colorway

Fourth, a little love gnome

and last but not least, a pair of "heartbreaker" undies :)

oh, and some yarn :). DK weight for knucks

i want to throw up
... there isn't more to say. our move is now up in the air. they decided to paint the house, and it is ugly. ugly enough for me to really dislike it, but it's ugly enough for paul to want cancel the move. i don't even want to fight with him... if we move, i'll have to hear about it for the rest of my life. i feel like i don't have a leg to stand on either, since i think it's pretty horrible. in his words, it's "puke green with burgandy trim", and while i don't think the green is puke-y, it isn't a pretty green.

the rental company knows how bad it is. they already had concerns voiced from a handy man who was working on it, and the manager has seen it and dislikes it. but in their words, they have spent 4 grand already, so it probably won't be re-painted.

anyway. i am just overwhelmingly sad. i knew this was coming. it's destined that i don't get to move.

Seriously.
I love Target. Upon chelle's urging, I went there looking for a windbreaker. Didn't come out with one, instead came out with a new kitchen table set. Darn thing was 50% off, and Paul and I have been lusting after it since it came out! It's not some great Pottery Barn set (my dream!), but it will do it's job well, and I can get rid of my peeling table and broken chairs!!! I tried for that windbreaker, but couldn't find toddler sizes.

Speaking of Chelle... I finished these up for her baby on the way!!! They are made with a wool crepe, bound with soft fold-over-elastic. The crepe I used is wonderful stuff. Super trim, but works like a charm. These babies are daddy friendly!!!

I also have 2 cut out from PUL in a size small. Those above are newborn sizes. I love sewing for a newborn!!!

Ok. I need to knit. I have to dye tonight. That's my list. The legwarmers are done, shorts are being finished (once I tear myself away from this blog), and I need to work on the soaker. I'll post pics tomomorrow.

Smooth sailing
The house inspection went perfect. She was super impressed with the condition, being that we have lived here 5 years. I am thinking we will get at least 3/4 of our deposit back, and that is the best news ever.

Paul stayed home with me today, to help me clean up and because I had a bit of a breakdown last night. One word. Dentist. They reduce me to panic attacks. When I was 11 or 12, I had 4 molars removed, while I was awake. That was the beginning of the end. Add on some torturous (3 years worth) orthodontist appointments, a botched filling, wisdom teeth extraction, and there you have a history of dental hell. I digress. I had a filling done yesterday, and the dentist (we will call her dentist #2, because I get a different one every time) wasn't the best. What about the second filling that needs to be done??? she pretty much wrote it up as a root canal, even though dentist #1 said he would go super slow to remove the botched filling (see sentence #7 of this paragraph) and avoid a root canal. Still following??? I am getting all blech just talking about it.

Anyway, now that I am getting the feeling back in my arms (told you I freak out) I'll keep typing. The cost of the root canal is not pretty, but I can't have more teeth pulled. I already have 6 gone, and 3 more wisdom teeth that need to go (the big guy upstairs felt I needed 5, yes FIVE, wisdom teeth). Alright, I am done with my rant.

On to better things. I got my website redone, and OMGosh. I can not wait until I go live with it. The designer was just fantastic to work with. She does incredible work, and her personality fit well with mine. Check her out http://design.noelove.com/

Alright, off to find some mindless TV for the night. Here is a pic to brighten your day. Chris shaving... mommy memories don't get any better than this.

So, where to start?
Well, I actually have started, but things are overwhelming me. I feel like a tornado hit my house. I want to clean it up, but I should be packing and stacking boxes. I did get the boys closet cleaned out and started on the hall disaster/closet. It's winning though.

My current WIP is going awesome!!! It was a rough start, but I have taught myself to magic loop, and I finally have a leg warmer pattern! Woohoo. I guess I should show a pic ;)-

And just finished is a newborn soaker. It's going up as an auction in my congo. I am hoping i get more than $9.99 for it, but I guess that's the uncertainty of auctions.

And my kid pics of the day. Have I expressed my undying love for my cam??? Well I am now. (It's a Nikon d50).

Snow you say???
YES! Check out this craziness that I woke up to-

Why yes, we live in Southern Cali, elevation 1300 ft!!! This is definitely the weirdest thing ever! Chris was so excited. He has been telling me for weeks that snow was coming because the leaves were off the trees.

AND in other news. WE ARE MOVING! Yes, I am totally yelling. It's how I feel. We have been waiting for this for over 2 years. I am scared to death, but oh so excited. The rent jump is just insane, but we will have to squeeze for awhile until Paul gets the VP job/raise.

And, since this is my knitting blog, here is what is the current in progress. I should finish it up tonight and cast on the other pair of shorts. I'll need to close up shop in about 2 weeks so I don't lose anything in the move. But when we get there, I will have a sewing/knitting room!!!!

How the heck does this happen?!?! The kid is 5!!! I have a 5 year old. He is huge. It seems like just yesterday he was my sweet new buddy, and now he is my sweet BIG buddy.

He will go to school this year, he will try new things, make new friends, and leave the "stay at home with mama" life. I am sad, but will enjoy what I have left.

And just for some ohhhhhhh. The sweet little newborn, 5 years ago.

Ok, we are off on a donut adventure. It's his breakfast of choice... definitely not mine! But he gets to decide today.

So, it's been a year...
a long, beautiful, crazy, intense, productive year. The highlights?

  • Joey turned 2. Holy moly. 2's with him have been interesting. He is an incredibly intense kid, amazing actually.
  • Chris is a big kid. He will talk anyone's ear off, and he loves animals. He also loves Disneyland.
  • My biz took off. I haven't had a minute of non-business knitting since I started. It's wonderful.
  • Paul and I started on year 7 of our relationship. There have been lots of ups and downs, but lately, more ups :)

My current to do list?

Finish up the shorts on the sticks (just the legs)
Get going on the soaker
Do the fetching mate
Start on Joey's hoodie
And perhaps squeeze in a pair of socks for me (LOL!!!)
